Welcome To The All New DTRN

After four seasons and over four years it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the latest iteration of The Destiny Talk Radio Network or www.dtrn.co.uk as it more commonly known.

Many people have asked me why we decided that now was the best time for a complete overhaul of the website and the answer is simply that as the show was increasing in popularity we needed to move to a new webhosting company and so I made the decision to re-vamp the site when we moved.

This also meant that as we have in the past we once again would need to improve on the current iteration and so a great deal of effort has been made to not only make this version more refined but also more user friendly. Another element that was important to not only myself but also all of those involved in this design process was that we wanted to make something that was unique and reflected the creative ethos that lies behind not only the site origins but also that of everything we do. We have also worked hard to add new features to the site that have not been present in the past designs and so people will now be able to see such things as our latest Tweets whilst also removing and refining areas that we felt no longer needed such as the reviews pages which going forward will be integrated into a new blogs section. It is my hope then that the site you are now looking at ticks all of those aspects for you, the user and I would like to thank all of those who have been involved in the design process too date, as without you this would have taken a lot longer than it did.

Lastly as I previously mentioned the site has grown in popularity since we first went live in 2007 and so I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all you for your support over the intervening years and I hope that we can continue to provide you with new and exciting content such as Sci Fi Guys: The Game, for many years to come.

What can be said about Stuart that has not already been said and that does not involve language you would expect to hear in a Mos Eisely Cantina on a Saturday night? Frankly not much but anyway here goes.

Stuart, the eldest of five children, has been a geek and fan of Sci Fi and Cult TV/Movies for as long as he can remember and so when as young adult he was given the chance to combine his love of these subjects with his desire to be a presenter, he jumped at it and thus the spectacle that was The Claw on T4 was born. After this brief taste of fame and with the urge to improve on what he had done with T4, Stuart utilised his skills that he had picked up whilst studying radio at University and via his work for other online radio stations to create the phenomena that we know today as The Sci Fi Guys!

With the birth of The Sci Fi Guys came the chance for Stuart to also further indulge in another one of his passions, that of interviewing people and as such getting a chance to find out the stories behind not only the shows he loved but also the people in and responsible for them. Now several years on and Stuart has interviewed well over 400 people a number that continues to grow with every passing month and only serves to further enhance his passion for the craft.

When it comes to his work, Stuart has done a multitude of different jobs to bring in the all important money, ranging from working in call centres to selling ice creams.

The Sci Fi Guys and work aside Stuart spends his time voluntarily working on a variety projects such as The MCM Buzz news website and also enjoys working with the MCM Expo Group as their presenter and stage manager. However when he eventually stops working Stuart has also been known to be either playing games on his X360, catching up on his favourite shows/movies, reading books and comics and spending time with his friends and also fellow Sci Fi Guys Mike McDonald and Aaron Darlington.

Well there you have it a brief look behind the mask of geekery that is Stuart Claw, for a further look behind the mask don’t forget to listen to The Sci Fi Guys and follow his work on The MCM Buzz (www.mcmbuzz.com) and also by following him and the other guys on The Sci Fi Guys official twitter page @TheSciFiGuys.

  • Mike

Michael was born helpless and alone on the icy tundras of Hoth. He was raised by a small band of fearsome space wolves and learnt to kill with nothing but a large supply of weapons and armor.

On his 25th birthday Michael was re-born as an uber geek. He was sent to Earth to enjoy the geek culture that was growing rapidly on the planet. Shortly after landing Michael was lucky enough to meet the women who would become his life, Hannah. Although not a geek herself she was willing to accept him for what he was and so they began their life of happiness together. As time moved on Michaels life flitted from the UK to Cyprus and back again and his geekiness grew to epic proportions. In 2011 Michael was delighted to welcome to the world one of the future geeks of the planet, his own son Harry. Michael works in the insurance industry, but has secret plans to rule the world through giant robots, but he asks you don't mention this to anyone.

The height of his geek prowess happened when he joined the Sci-Fi guys full time during the 3rd season. In doing this with the star of the show Stuart Claw Michael was able to realise his dream of speaking to the world about all things geek. Genre shows, films, books and games were on the table for discussion as were many a toilet based joke. The show allows an outlet for Michael who often hides his geekiness so as not to freak out the people who sit next to him at work, however the Mario toys and Halo figures may give him away, he isn't sure.

In his down time Michael likes to game like a demon. His favourite game of all time is the Halo franchise. His favourite series of books are Dragonlance specifically the original chronicles and the Twins Trilogy. He loves them so much he named his dog Raistlin after the arch mage of the series.

Michael hopes that the world will continue to embrace the way of the geek, but not too much so that he can still make fun of the norms. Michael hopes that you listen to the sci-fi guys every week and follows him on twitter at Lunchbox200508.

  • Aaron

Aaron Joined the Sci Fi guys after meeting up with Stuart Claw during Reunion 2008. After a few brief guest appearances on the show, Aaron was eventually offered a full time spot on the show - and has now built up a reputation for telling stories of his various escapades, usually culminating in an Epic Fail.

Outside of the show, Aaron is a full time Graphic Designer, and studio manager.
He also helps raise money for various charities by helping with marketing and advertising material for the SFball - a bournemouth based sci fi convention, as well as attending Star Wars Troops dressed as Anakin Skywalker or by sporting his recently acquired Stormtrooper armour.

He is currently making adjustments to his costumes and armour in preparation for applying to the UK Garrison of the 501st Legion.

Aaron's major Sci-Fi interest is of course Star Wars, however, he has an extensive collection of movies, TV shows, comics, books and movie props from all corners of the genre.

When not trying to derail Stuart on the Sci Fi Guys, you can find Aaron pwning noobs on XboxLive, building props and spending time with his Fiancée.
